Daily Essentials
I think every woman has a few items that she can’t get through her day without. For me those items would be earphones, highlighters and coffee.
Earphones make our pin-drop-silent office seem a little less quiet. I can listen to my tunes without bothering anyone else.
Highlighters make my life easier. I highlight EVERYTHING. In fact, if this were an office document, this sentence would probably be highlighted.
I didn’t start drinking coffee until about 2 years ago. Iced Kickers from Dutch Brothers were the reason for my switch over to caffeine. Seriously, the best coffee you will ever drink.
Weekend
What an amazingly relaxing weekend this has been. It has been nice to take a minute and enjoy the quiet before the work week begins again. This is where I was, on the couch, enjoying the time.

4 Seattle Vintage Stores you Have to See to Believe
While in Seattle this past weekend I was able to spend some time shopping with friends. I always hear about the great vintage shopping in Seattle (not as great as Portland, of course) so I was excited to check some of these places out.
Here are 4 Seattle-area vintage stores that you have to see if you’re ever in town.
1) Haystack Antiques – Bellevue
This Bellevue antique store is actually fairly new (ironic – for an antique store). While the store has a large selection, the pieces can be on the pricey side. However, they carry a lot of unique pieces that would convert well to conversation pieces in your home.

2) Pacific Galleries – Seattle (Sodo)
Pacific Galleries is iconic in the Pacific Northwest. This is the store to end all vintage stores. With seemingly hundreds of vendor spaces, the selection is extraordinary. And each space is unique. I actually visited the store back in February and found a completely new selection this time.
My friends stumbled on this store one day and they were instantly hooked. The items are affordable and picking through the vendor sections isn’t a tedious task like in some other vintagey stores.

4) Fremont Vintage Mall – Seattle (Fremont)
This store is as quirky as the neighborhood it’s located in. It’s on the large size so you should set aside at least an hour to go through it. If you can weed out the crap you can find some cool things. Giant Malboro man, anyone?
Do you have a favorite vintage store?

Show Off
I found some great vintage pieces while out shopping this weekend in Seattle. One of them is this great business card holder which is actually a candlestick holder turned upside down. Brilliant!
I’ll be sharing more shopping adventures tomorrow. See you then!
Seattle’s Portland
As you know I spent the weekend in Seattle (technically Bellevue too) for my 10-year high school reunion. On Saturday before the reunion my high school friend Jessie and I set out to find some cool new boutiques in Seattle. She mentioned Fremont, a free-spirited Seattle neighborhood near Lake Union. I hadn’t been down to Fremont since I was a kid, so I agreed we should check it out.
Let’s just say I felt right at home in Fremont.
The “neighborhood” has a sort of main drag with a collection of vintage shops, cafes and boutiques. The vibe of the people and the shops felt a little…off for Seattle. Almost crunchy (a favorite word another friend of mine uses to describe Portland’s hippie-like attitude). After a few stores realized that Fremont IS a lot like Portland. So I dubbed the neighborhood “Seattle’s Portland”.
While perusing the shops we came across a little dress shop with some adorable pieces for Fall. The clothes were alright, but I really fell for the dressing room! That’s where I took my photo of the day.
I also had to stop for a bite at Pie. I’d heard so much about it from various blogs and Seattle residents. I think it lived up to the hype. I’m still dreaming about my Mac n’ Cheese pie with bacon.
As for the reunion…it went pretty well. It was as expected. It was great to catch up with some familiar faces (some people looked exactly the same!). It seems like everyone had the same story when you ask what they’ve been up to…went to college and now working. That’s a good thing though, right?
Here’s my bonus photo – my “adult” school spirit.
